Movement speed overhaul

Changed

  • Movement speed is now measured in speed points: 220 at the base plus 2 per character level. Every level still makes you faster, but by less each time — instead of growing without limit, speed approaches a ceiling of 10 tiles per second.
  • High-level characters are noticeably slower than before (at level 100 a step takes 238ms instead of 100ms). Low-level characters slowed down only slightly.
  • Every single level now changes your speed. Step time used to be rounded to the server tick, so levels 30 and 55 (for example) ran at exactly the same speed.
  • Monsters share the players' base speed and follow one simple rule: a monster of a given level moves like a character ten levels higher. In practice it is 7-9% faster than a player of its own level, so outrunning an even match takes a speed buff or boots.
  • The movement bonus on items is now flat speed points, capped across your whole equipment. Boots give 15 points and a socketed goat foot gives 5 — previously the boots alone were enough to pin a character to the speed ceiling.

Fixed

  • Monsters finally pay for diagonal movement. A diagonal step covers 1.41 tiles, so it has to take 1.41 times as long — until now only players paid that, and monsters chased diagonally 41% faster than their stats implied.
  • Monsters and NPCs move smoothly again. They were given a step animation shorter than the real gap between position updates, so they reached a tile, paused for a moment and snapped to the next one, which read as stuttering. They also regained the speed their stats promise: some were walking up to 11% slower than intended.
  • The diagonal step animation matches the server. The client rounded diagonal timing differently than the server, which put the animation out of step with real movement on nearly half of all levels.
  • Leap skills (Dash, Blink), monster charges and monster transformations granted a free step on landing — after relocating, the creature could immediately move another tile instead of waiting out its step time.
